A Truly Abundant Life

This is not a transactional truth; it is a relational truth. Let me explain what I mean by that:

Definitions (from Oxford Languages):

  • Transactional /tranˈzakSH(ə)nəl,tran(t)ˈsakSH(ə)nəl/ adjective "relating to the conducting of business"

  • Relational: /rəˈlāSH(ə)nəl/ adjective "concerning the way in which two or more people or things are connected."

In other words, if your primary goal is to live an abundant life as you define it, you might be tempted to see obedience to God as your end of a bargain with God. I.e., God will owe me an abundant life if I try really hard to obey Him.

If, on the other hand, your primary goal is to know God and trust Him, you will see knowing and obeying His word as a way to do that. The truly abundant life is lived in total dependence on God.

This is a lifelong pursuit. It is not a life without hardships; it is a life that is abundant even in the midst of hardships.

John 10:10 (NIV) "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

May you know God better today, rely on Him more every day, and experience the abundance God wants to give you.
