Questions

This concept probably seems obvious and simple; after all, this is what we should do with one another, right? When you have a question about a gadget, go to the gadget-maker to get the answer. When you want to know why someone did what they did, you ask the person who did it.

However, God doesn't usually respond as quickly as we'd like; He doesn't always answer the questions the way we'd like; and the answers are often not what we want to hear. Therefore, we usually find it easier to draw our own conclusions than to trust God to respond in His timing and His way.

I think Job would've said that God's answers to his questions were worth the wait. Job experienced God in a deeper and more meaningful way than he ever could have if he would've relied on his friend's answers and/or his own logic.

So, let's bring our easy questions to God, our hard questions to God, and even the assumptions we've held all our lives to God. And then wait. And watch. And wait. And watch. How do we watch? We read and reflect on His word. Every day. We intentionally involve other followers of Jesus in our lives, listening to their perspective and asking them to pray for us. All the while, we bring all human perspectives, thoughts, fears, and assumptions to God, asking Him to help us see anything that is inconsistent with the principles in His word.

Keep asking. Keep watching. Keep waiting.
