What do I mean by "real peace"? I'm talking about peace regardless of circumstances; peace in relationships, even broken ones; peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4). This kind of peace is available to anyone, but we cannot wait until a crisis comes before we start entrusting the past, present and future to God. We must practice this daily, even in the smallest of things, so that we are prepared to trust God when the crisis comes.

  • To entrust the past to God is to believe that He has forgiven you fully because Jesus paid the full penalty for all your sins. (Psalm 103:12)

  • To entrust the past to God is to believe that He can and will work even the worst of mistakes for your good and His glory. (Romans 8:28)

  • To entrust the present to God is to offer yourself as a living sacrifice, seeking His Lordship in every area of your life. (Romans 12:1-2)

  • To entrust the present to God is to choose to trust Him in the midst of whatever trial you're going through right now. (James 1)

  • To entrust the present to God is to seek first God's kingdom through Bible study and prayer. (Matthew 6:19-34; Philippians 4)

  • To entrust the future to God is to believe His promises as a certainty. (Hebrews 11)

  • To entrust the future to God is to let go of overplanning, control and manipulation. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

If you're looking for a way to spend time daily in Bible study, here are a couple of tools you might find helpful:

May you find real peace in 2024!
