Trouble Ahead

The good news is that God can and will work all things, even the dumbest, most short-sighted things we do, for our good and His glory if we ask Him.
Romans 8:26-28 (NIV) "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Romans 8:37-39 (NIV) "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
The promises in Romans 8 are a great comfort to me, because I've done a lot of dumb, short-sighted things. Often, at the time I did them, I thought I was doing God a favor by using my own efforts and taking shortcuts to accomplish something I thought was "good". I find it cleansing and freeing to bring those mistakes with complete humility before God, owning them not only as mistakes but as sin (trusting my own ways and timing more than God's). Not rationalizing; not comparing myself to others; not blaming others; just owning my part and confessing.
1 John 1:8-9 "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
If you're reading this, know that prayed Ephesians 3:14-21 for you this morning. May you know the fulness of God's love and trust Him to keep ALL of His promises.
